  City Square Mall launches Facebook game to promote Great Singapore Sale

  Local malls getting tech savvy with Facebook games for the June holidays to promote the Great Singapore Sale?

  Singapore, 2 June 2011 - City Square Mall, owned and managed by City Developments Limited (CDL), has launched “Elmo’s Garden”, a Sesame Street game on its Facebook page www.facebook.com/citysquaremall to tie in with the mall’s activities for the Great Singapore Sale promotions and June school holidays.  From now till 26 June, fans of City Square Mall can grow a virtual garden on Facebook, where the top 30 most “Liked” gardens with at least five flowers (inclusive of a sunflower) will win Sesame Street Kids T-shirts and eco-premiums.

  The theme for the game is based on the new Sesame Street Live Asia Show “Elmo’s Green Thumb” and seeks to promote greater awareness about Earth and the environment among City Square Mall’s Facebook fans.

  ‘Chopin for Japan’ sponsored by EPSON

  Epson, together with the Singapore subsidiaries of Yamaha and Isetan will be sponsoring a free concert entitled ‘Chopin for Japan’ in support of the relief effort for the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster.

  Featuring well-known Italian-American classical pianist Julian Gargiulo, audience members can expect to enjoy Chopin compositions, well known Japanese songs and Italian arias.

  Satsuki Nagatome will accompany Gargiulo as a guest soprano during the concert.

  The concert is open to the public and non-obligatory donations will be requested during the event. All proceeds will to Mercy Relief to aid their relief efforts in Japan.

  Norton Survey Reveals One in Three Singaporeans Would Rather Lose Their Childhood Photographs Than Their Mobile Phone

  Came across this release by Symantec a week back. Now why is this geek not surprised? Guess the now and current is more important to many than the past. Interesting angle Symantec took to do the survey, I must say, including questions on whether victims would be willing to pay a ransom to get their phones back. This geek was just musing about “internet dependency”. I guess this warrants some thought on the new topic “mobile dependency”.

  About half of Singaporeans have had their mobile phone lost or stolen and 84 percent of them found the experience stressful.

  SINGAPORE, 15 March 2011 – Smartphones today have become an indispensable tool in our everyday life; as our primary way to communicate, work, share and collaborate.  A survey conducted by Norton reveals that 52 percent of adults in Singapore have fallen victim to mobile phone loss or theft, and despite that, only 37 percent currently have a password protecting their devices.  The imminent need for mobile protection is increasingly important in Singapore where 89 percent of Singaporeans never leave home without their mobile phones and nearly half cannot live without their phones.

Interestingly, Singaporeans who most searched for payouts were found to be in the category of 35-44 year men and women.

  I wasn’t at the ceremony tonight but pleased to know that Adrin from Yakun won the special category award! Now, where are the tech companies? I count only 3 of them amongst the 30 winners!
