Since 'the geek shall inherit the earth', this geek is just waiting for his day to rule the world. In the meantime, he is a young Padawan for CNET Asia whilst toying with a myriad of fun stuff disguised as work and pretending to advise companies on tech business and new media strategies. His playmates range from startups, (un)Fortune 500s, to government organisations.

Too bad this geek has to miss the Consumer Electronics Show this year due to national service commitments. This looks really interesting. My head is just beginning to get around how it’d change the way we use our PC. Wonder if I can play Starcraft 2 better with it? Alas, we’d have to wait till July to find out! More details in the announcement after the break.

This looks like a nifty gadget that might make a lot of sense for certain lifestyles. Earlier on, this geek was playing with the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro and it packed a lot of features in a little device providing a pretty nice experience on Andriod. Looks like Sony Ericsson is going for smaller devices with more modular extensions like the LiveView. I haven’t played with one myself but you can find out more from the press release below.

Singapore, September 28th 2010 – Today sees the announcement of the Sony
Ericsson LiveView™. This innovative accessory is another step in Sony Ericsson’s commitment to help consumers get the very best mobile phone experience through the open Android platform. The Sony Ericsson LiveView™ is part of the Sony Ericsson Extras portfolio – a division which offers a total product experience and enhanced mobile possibilities.

LiveView_PHP-Top-Image[1]The Sony Ericsson LiveView™ uses Bluetooth™ connectivity to wirelessly pair up to a compatible handset and allows consumers to control the phone without taking it out of their pocket or handbag. Read text messages, see incoming calls and keep up to date with the latest news
    on Facebook™ and Twitter™.

This geek is not familiar with thermal management inside the PC although I’ve dabbled a little with over-clocking before. This sounds like a breakthrough and I wonder how does it compare with some of the other cooling methods the extreme over-clockers use.

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM 2010, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, SEPTEMBER 14, 2010– US Technology Consortium (USTC), the leading developer of Metrological Test Validation Tools for Debugging processors, today announced the achievement of the best cooling solution on the market.  This cooling solution utilizes interlocking longitudinal axis, opposing jet technology.  Called T-Collider Jet™ Cooling Technology, this technology comprises assets that are scalable, without inherent limitations of other fluid heat sinks, making it viable for applications from microprocessors, to servers,  rack systems, data centers, radar,  lasers, military and to aerospace and beyond.

Behold, the Camera Lens Mug, a mug that looks JUST LIKE a 24-105mm lens!

It’s equipped with a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings, and an auto-focus switch that actually switches! It’s so realistic, you might have to use post-its just to remind yourself which is your mug and which is your lens!

I stumbled upon this random page created for my blog, by Facebook apparently. Don’t have to time to investigate why or how it happened. But I take it as a wake up call for me to start a Facebook page for my blog so here it is, my brand new glorious Facebook page:

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Geekonomics/101925233191279

Actually I’m away in Bangkok now trying to look inconspicuous with my red shirt so I don’t have time to update the page much yet. However, I just got a pair of free tickets to give away for the Wonder Girls Music Showcase in Singapore this weekend (Thanks to Sony Ericsson and also to Hillary for passing me her extra ticket) so I will be picking a winner to join myself and Hillary at the concert this Friday evening!

    How to join and win?

    1. Like my new Facebook page

    2. Tell us why you must go to this concert on the Facebook wall.

The answer we like the most wins!

    Terms and Conditions applies:

    1. Final decision is made by myself and Hillary and our decision is final. *evil laugh*

    2. Closing date and time shall be Thursday night 8pm Singapore time. The winner will be notified via Facebook with details on the ticket collection.

More information on the concert taken from http://entertainment.xin.msn.com:

This is interesting. First of all, to have boot camps sprout out all over China for “internet addicts”. I’ve seen TV reports of these addicts given jabs daily but nobody knows what is contained in the jabs. And now this mutiny. Makes me wonder if these boot camps will ever open in countries like Singapore and Korea?
