A few weeks ago, Skype launched Skypekit, a new software development kit that enables hardware and software makers to add Skype functionality to their devices and applications. The application that was earlier limited to the Linux operating system only, is now being made available in the Windows and Mac versions as well.
SkypeKit Beta SDK now works on Windows (x86) and Mac OS X.
Now multiple desktop applications can offer Skype conversations — including video, voice, and text — without the need for users to separately download Skype software.
More details on the initiative are available on the Skype blog.
