Since 'the geek shall inherit the earth', this geek is just waiting for his day to rule the world. In the meantime, he is a young Padawan for CNET Asia whilst toying with a myriad of fun stuff disguised as work and pretending to advise companies on tech business and new media strategies. His playmates range from startups, (un)Fortune 500s, to government organisations.

SINGAPORE, 01 July 2010 The Spirit of Enterprise (SOE), a non-profit organisation created to inspire Singapore students and youths to become entrepreneurs, is accepting nominations to its 2010 Sprit of Enterprise Awards until 15 July 2010. Held annually since 2003, SOE Awards recognize successful small and medium businesses.
To qualify, the business must be locally registered, not less than 5 years in operation, earning less than S$10-million, with a good business standing and no legal obligations.
The Spirit of Enterprise Awards will honour 30 SMBs and plans to introduce a new award category this year.

Serena Wee, Board of Governor, Spirit of Enterprise said: “Every year, SOE delights in discovering exceptional stories of our local entrepreneurs who used their talents and work around the resources available to them to start a business. The lives of these local entrepreneurs are woven into Singapore’s history.  By recognizing and sharing their inspiring stories, we hope to ignite the creativity and entrepreneurial fire among Singapore youths to start their own businesses.”
In line with its initiative to nurture entrepreneurial spirit among the youth, SOE engages more than 100 students from universities and polytechnics every year. They interview nominated entrepreneurs whose small and medium businesses exemplify what is achievable with the right spirit and illustrate the concept that one does not have to start big to become an entrepreneur.
The winners are selected after a thorough screening by the SOE Board of Governors complemented by a public voting. This year’s SOE Awards Ceremony is to be held in November 2010.
