I just posted a review of an uber cool laptop sleeve on my CNET blog, go check out it.
Thought I share with you this hilarious email vacation message by Chade Meng, the first Singaporean Google employee and coming to speak in Singapore soon. Will post details of that soonest.
I’m on leave until 8/15/2008. If you can’t reach me, please don’t think I’m dead, especially if you’re from payroll (if you’re not from payroll, I don’t really care what you think. Except you, boss).
During my leave, I will archive most of my incoming emails without reading them. Why?
Because being on leave, I’m likely to be frolicking on a beach or something, and reading emails is incompatible with frolicking.
If your request is important, please email me again after 8/15/2008.
If your request is not important, please send it to /dev/null, it will be taken care of in the most appropriate way, I promise.
In case of an absolute emergency that requires my immediate attention, my teammates know how to contact me. Bribe them.
Tell them they look beautiful. Say they look almost as attractive as Meng.
Examples of “absolute emergency”:
- You are the President of the United States.
- You are Celine Dion.
- You urgently want to give me a billion bucks.
- Evil forces intent to destroy the world today (Note: not AFTER my vacation, but today) and you think I’m the only one who can save the world.
- You discovered that I’m The One, but so did the Agents, and you have only 24 hours to find me to give me the “blue pill/red pill” speech.
- All of the above.During my time away, I will refrain from becoming evil.
But if I do become evil, I promise I will grow a goatee and rub my hands in a sinister way when I speak.
And if I capture a superhero sent to stop me, I will painstakingly explain my evil plans in detail to him/her before handing him/her to my snickering, incompetent goons.
Have a great week folks!
p.s. In case you haven’t noticed, my weekly tech review is in suspension right now. Hopefully I can bring it back soon, need to restructure that one a little.

Check out PhPlurk, the service that allows you to update your Plurk timeline on your mobile.
Well it seems that they have a plurk gateway to post your updates on the go.
Only thing is that it’s a service from Philippines which probably means that you have to pay IDD for every message sent.. so I didn’t bother to sign up since I’m not a Plurk addict YET.
Maybe some of you out there are..MAYBE

At first it was search, then office productivity tools, social networking, etc. Now, it’s virtual worlds.
Looks like Google will get into anything that’s hot enough, which may not be a bad thing for consumers like us.
I was checking out Google’s latest initiative in Virtual Worlds recently called Lively and after trying it out, concept seems to be quite similar to Twinity from my limited understanding of Twinity (since it’s not open to public yet)
Just rather surprised that after sometime in the making, Twinity is still in private Beta (you have to apply to try it) but Lively is already open to public.

First it was drinking. Then it was cell phones. Now text-messaging is the latest behind-the-wheel activity lawmakers are trying to curb.
“All of my friends do it,” says Sonalie Patel, 17, who lives in Elk Grove Village, Ill., and admits that she too occasionally sends texts despite a ban on cell phone use for drivers under 19 and adults with learners permits. “It’s like an epidemic.”
Indeed, a Nationwide Insurance survey found that 18% of cell phone owners text and drive and that drivers between the ages of 16 and 30 are the most frequent texters. Young adults have even posted videos of themselves texting while driving on YouTube, and nearly 600 people have joined a Facebook group called “I Text Message People While Driving And I Haven’t Crashed Yet!”

Just four more days to go before the iPhone 3G debuts in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and New Zealand. Countries like Macau, Singapore and The Philippines will be getting the handset in the later part of the year.
When Steve Jobs announced the iPhone 3G with its new price (US$199 for the 8GB and US$299 for the 16GB), I thought that was it. I knew I was going to get the handset when it comes to Asia. But the initial rush of enthusiasm started dissipating once the telcos unveiled their data plans for the iPhone 3G last week. Factor in the monthly data subscriptions and the deals don’t look that enticing anymore.
To date, four operators–Optus, Telstra, 3 Hong Kong and SoftBank–have announced their service plans. For the record, Telstra wasn’t in the list of exclusive carriers to sell the iPhone 3G on July 11 when Jobs first announced availability schedules. It’s hard to keep track of everything that’s happening. So if you want to keep your finger on the pulse of the iPhone 3G in Asia, here’s where you should go.

OK I’ve bottled it up long enough. I just have to do it to let it out.
Especially since Daphne has already admitted to it…
